I’ve been doing some research surrounding the different options of POS related software with an art inventory focus.
So far I have been looking into Masterpiece Solutions (www.masterpiecesolutions.com) which is actually software for Galleries/Stores, but they also have a version for individual artists called Archer Artist (http://www.archerartist.com/). This version costs $95. So far I’m leaning towards Archer Artist as it is the only art focused inventory software I have come across.
I have seen a few others: Artist’s Butler and Working Artist but they don’t deal with POS and are either more expensive or very close. Does anyone know of any other ART focused software I might be overlooking?

The question is, why have a system? To cut down on work, of course. The $95 solution will not do that, you might as well just use an Excel sheet. Remember, you are looking to eliminate your clerical work – create invoices, consignments, mailing lists, email lists, accounts receivable, image reports, perhaps even track edition numbers and bibliography. You should check out Artsystems Studio (http://www.artsystems.com/products/studio.htm). True, it costs $795, but it will do everything and more. And if you tried to hire someone for $795, you’d get about a week of work from them. So think of it as $795 for an assistant for life who will do 90% of your office work. Don’t cheat yourself by thinking you can get something for nothing, you’ll just be making work for yourself. And finally, you spent more than that on the computer, didn’t you? And what good is the computer if you can run your studio business on it? Anyway, that’s my two cents. Good luck.
